Health and Indoor Air Quality:
What, How & Why

Health and Indoor Air Quality is a significant green building issue directly affecting residents.

  • Minimize exposure of residents and workers to toxic materials.
  • Use safe, biodegradable materials and alternatives to hazardous materials.

The goal of affordable housing is to provide safe, as well as, affordable housing for low-income residents. Safety includes using materials that do not cause negative health impacts for residents, especially for the more sensitive groups such as children, seniors and those with existing respiratory problems.
