President Bonnie Miller called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM in the Hawthorne Hills Room.  President Miller welcomed the trustees and guests.

President Report

President B. Miller reviewed HHCC correspondence:

Seattle police Department - Petition against City SPD budget cuts,

Fire Station #38 – consider building annex,

SDOT, Warren G. Magnuson Park (WGMP) Use Guidelines for activities and conditional permit for park and ride lot,

Library – Opportunity funding for a Branch at Sand Point

 

Secretary’s Report

The minutes of the September 15, 2004 HHCC meeting were reviewed. A motion was made to approve, seconded, voted on and passed.

 

Treasurer's Report 

President Miller (for Treasurer C. Chapman) presented the financials as of August 31, 2004:

                Beginning Balance                                 $ 8,418.09

                Total Income                                                   4.04    

                Total Expenses                                           500.00 (Sand Point Community Housing)

                Balance ending December 31, 2004   $ 7,922.13

A. Forrey, seconded by S. Aker, motioned the HHCC request $500 for the newsletter from Rep. Bob Ferguson. It was voted on and passed.

 

New Business

M. Thouless gave an update on the Biocontainment Laboratory facility proposed by the University of Washington (UW).  M. Thouless and A. Forry will draft a letter asking for specific information on the facility plan.  M. Thouless, seconded by A. Forrey, motioned this letter be sent to the UW Office of Regional Affairs.  It was voted on and passed.

 

Membership HHCC/Newsletter

There was discussion on promoting membership in the HHCC and the plan for newsletter production.

Mailing sequence and size:                 Spring and Fall                                    small                                                      

                                                                 Summer and Winter                            larger, full membership

  The editorial board will consist of G. Chiarello, Sandra Aker and Jan Armes.

  G.Chiarello, Editor, will research selling advertising g in the newsletter. From the names submitted for the newsletter, a voter was taken.  Hawthorne Hills Holler” had the majority of votes.  After discussion,

A.Forrey, seconded by V. Thompson, made a motion to increase the HHCC dues:  $25 per family, $15 for seniors.  The motion was voted on and passed.

G. Holzapfel, seconded by S. Hartnett, made a motion for the editor to be voting member of the HHCC.  It was voted on and passed.

 

Miscellaneous
S. Aker, seconded by A> Sanford motioned name/place markers be used for the next meeting.   It was voted on and passed.

S.  Hartnett volunteered place markers.

Seattle School Board

A. Gates, seconded by G. Schell, made a motion to send a letter to the Seattle School Board recommending the View Ridge Elementary School be removed from list of school closure. It was voted on and passed.

Friends of Magnuson Park

Vance Thompson updated the council regarding the sport fields’

plan.  A written report is on file with FOMP history to date and a Park Department time line for the project. FOMP requested funding for $1500 during 2005.  G.Holzapfel, seconded by M Savage, motioned to fund FOMP at the $500 level.  It was voted on and passed.

 

Sand Point Community Housing

MARY Savage updated the HHCC.  The written report is on file describing the organization; Phase I and II Housing, and the SPCHA nonprofit organization.

 

Department of Parks PD Park and Pool application at Magnuson:

 B. Miller gave an update concerning the Park’s Department application to change the Magnuson master use Plan.  G. Holzapfel, seconded by G. Schell, made a motion to send a letter on the land use code for this Project #2405908 to Scott Ringold.  It was voted on and approved.

The General Membership Meeting will hold Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 7:30 PM in Perry Hall, Sand Point Community Church.
