Announcement: Deadline extended to 10:00pm, Monday February 7th!

Apply to join the Green New Deal Oversight Board!

Are you passionate about climate justice? Would you like to be a voice for communities and workers most impacted by climate change? Are you committed to mitigating the causes of climate change and improving our city's resilience to it? The City of Seattle is seeking passionate individuals who want to work collaboratively on solutions to climate change that center our frontline communities (Black people, Indigenous people, sovereign tribal nations, communities of color, immigrants, refugees, youths, elders, houseless people, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, people with low and no income, and people who work in outdoor occupations) and people who live, work, play and pray in Seattle.

A Green New Deal for Seattle seeks to eliminate climate pollution by 2030 while creating jobs that advance a just and equitable transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy by prioritizing investments in communities historically most harmed by economic, racial, and environmental injustices.

The Office of Sustainability and Environment is currently accepting applications for the following 3-year term seats:

  • One representative directly impacted by racial, economic, and environmental injustices.
  • One representative of environmental justice organizations.
  • One representative with experience in greenhouse gas reduction and/or climate resiliency strategies relevant to cities.

How To Apply:

Submit your resume along with a letter of interest that responds to the following three questions (not to exceed 300 words for each question):

  1. Why are you interested in serving on the Green New Deal Oversight Board?
  2. What do you hope to accomplish as a member of the Green New Deal Oversight Board?
  3. Please share examples of cross-community solidarity where you created and supported an approach across ethnic, racial, and/or generational lines. How did you work to uplift community voice and leadership?
