Policies and Procedures for Reuse and Disposition

The City Council adopted Policies and Procedures for the Evaluation of City Real Property for Reuse and Disposition in August, 1998 under Resolution 29799 Policies were set by the City Council, based on input from City staff, while the procedures were developed by a team of interdepartmental real property staff, led by the Fleets & Facilities Department. The major goals of the new policies are procedures are to:

• Provide a framework for making decisions concerning property that includes the long-term visions of the Comprehensive Plan and other adopted City plans and policies.
• Encourage responsible stewardship to use, manage and develop the City’s real estate assets to support municipal functions and to best serve the long-term interests of the City and its citizens
• Provide consistent guidelines for property reuse and disposition decisions that incorporate public involvement
