Highlights
The Fleet Services Division centrally manages the City's vehicle and equipment operations in order to ensure timely, cost effective, and high quality replacement of vehicles, maintenance, fueling, and short-term transportation.
"Green" Fleet Action Plan Update (PDF format)
In 2003, Mayor Nickels launched his Environmental Action Agenda, which included a plan to “green” the City’s fleet. In August 2007, the City of Seattle updated its plan. This update describes steps the City will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its fleet of vehicles. In simplest terms, reducing the use of petroleum fuels, replacing petroleum fuels with renewable alternatives and maximizing the efficiency of how we use petroleum fuels all represent ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles; and all of these options are pursued in this update.
