2016 Candidates

Candidates who passed the 2015-16 testing process were added to the current 2016 Firefighter Register. The top 25% of candidates on the register proceed to the pre-employment process.

Conditional offers have been made for Recruit Class 106 (February 2017). Below is a tentative pre-employment process schedule for Recruit Class 107 (August 2017).

March: Employment Packet or Update Packet due
April: Pre-Employment Exams and Interviews
May: CPAT
June: Conditional Offers for Recruit Class 107
June: Medical and Psychological Exams
August: Recruit Class 107

Frequently Asked Questions

The first recruit class hired from this testing process started Aug. 10, 2016 (30 candidates). The second class will start Feb. 8, 2017 (30 candidates). A third class of 30 recruits is anticipated to be hired in August 2017 from this current 2016 hiring list.

The 2016 hiring list will remain active until a new hiring list is established. It is unknown at this time when the next application period and testing process will be scheduled.

CPAT

Candidates within the top 25% of the register will receive a paid Seattle Fire Department CPAT Voucher. All candidates must complete a CPAT with a Seattle Fire Department voucher. Vouchers are valid only with National Testing Network.

No. You do not need to be EMT certified to apply or test for Seattle Firefighter.

You will need to have a current Washington state EMT certification or be eligible for certification sponsorship prior to the start of recruit school. Due to the length of our hiring process, candidates have time to meet the EMT requirement during the testing and pre-employment process. A limited number of candidates will be offered space in an EMT course during the pre-employment process.
