Company Response Times

Beginning in 2015, changes to how responses are counted and average Response Times are calculated has changed as noted below:

The "Responses" column is the total number of Code Red (lights and sirens) BLS, ALS and Fire emergency responses (incidents) that the average Response Times are calculated on, not the number of responses that a company had for the year.

BLS and Fire incidents in which the company's Travel Time was less than 30 seconds or more than 12 minutes, are not included in the counts and Response Time calculations. Thresholds are used to exclude "walk-in" responses and responses with travel times far beyond the norm. Responses excluded per these thresholds account for less than 2% of all responses. Prior to 2015, the thresholds for excluding incidents from run counts and Response Times was Travel Time of less than 1 minute or more than 12 minutes.

Service type (Code Yellow) responses are also not included as companies do not travel with sirens to Code Yellow incidents.

Turnout Time Definition: The amount of time elapsed from the time the company is assigned by 9-1-1 dispatch to the incident until the time the company begins to travel enroute to the incident.

Travel Time Definition: The amount of time elapsed from the time the unit begins to travel en route to the incident until the time the unit arrives at the incident.

For the average Response Times posted below, Response Time is defined as Turnout Time plus Travel Time.

BLS-Basic Life Support  ALS-Advanced Life Support   Fire-Fire, Miscellaneous Fire, Hazmat,Marine and Rescue.
