Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification or proof of EMT course completion is required at the time of application, but it is required before a candidate can be hired. The Department offer enrollment in an EMT course to a limited number of candidates. Candidates who hold out of state or National Registry EMT certifications must secure Washington State reciprocity.
