The Seattle Fire Department receives many more
requests for extended visits than we can accommodate. On a case
available basis, we will allow a stay of up to three days
maximum if the visitor demonstrates the following criteria
in an application letter written on his/her Department
Visitor must be a member in
good standing of another emergency service organization.
The visit must be approved
and sponsored by the visitor's Fire Chief or highest ranking
official at the home department or agency. This official
must sign the application letter and provide a contact
The visitor must have a clear
educational purpose for the visit.
The visit must also benefit
the Seattle Fire Department educationally.
The visitor must have his/her
own medical insurance, must agree to adhere to all SFD rules
and regulations, and must be able to support himself/herself
financially during the visit (for example: money for
transportation, meals, and incidentals).
