Please keep in mind that the Code is the minimum standard of behavior for City officers and employees. Elected officials and managers can, and often do, set higher standards. Intent of the Code The Ethics Code was adopted in 1971 to foster public confidence in City government, by protecting the public's interests and promoting standards of conduct for City officers and employees. The Code was written to ensure that City officials are acting in the public's interest, and not for personal gain. The Ethics Code does not attempt to address all possible unethical actions.
