Green Infrastructure

Just like a good foundation is critical for a building a great house, having the right type of infrastructure in place is critical for Seattle to continue to grow as a green city. Infrastructure refers to the basic physical systems needed to support a city. When we talk about green infrastructure, we are often talking about projects that serve city needs (sewers, roads, utility pipes) in a more environmentally friendly and efficient manner.

The City’s work in this area is focused on better ways to manage stormwater (such as natural drainage) as well as coordinating infrastructure planning across departments’ capital projects to address common needs, find efficiencies and increase cost effectiveness.
