Energy

Thanks to our publicly-owned hydropower, Seattle residents are fortunate to enjoy some of the lowest rates and cleanest power in the nation. City Light produces about 50 percent of the electricity needed from its own hydro electric dams. Another 40 percent of its energy is from other hydro resources and the balance is a mix of new renewable energy and other regional power generation. City Light has been an energy conservation leader since the 1970's and was the nation's first utility to become carbon neutral in 2005 and has been greenhouse gas neutral ever since.
