This calculation estimates the global sea-level rise estimated to occur if CO2 increases at 1% per year for 70 years and then abruptly stabilizes. (This is probably an optimistic assumption about future CO2.) The climate continues to warm for some decades, further melting land ice (orange curve); but long after the climate stabilizes, ocean expansion (grey curve) continues. In short, we have already set in motion a very long-term change in our world.
