The Monthly Connection
July - August 2012
Disaster ready...prepared people,
Editorís Note: This will be the last issue until September. Enjoy the summer, and look for more starting this fall!
July - August Tip of the Month: On Tuesday, August 7, the City of Seattle will be celebrating the 28th Annual Night Out Against Crime. Last year, 1,327 events were registered with the Seattle Police Department!
Every year, Night Out is a great way to get re-acquainted with neighbors you know, and an even better way to introduce yourself to those you donít. When it comes to disaster, the people right around us will be the first to help. Many groups take this opportunity to update their contact information, review their response plans and confirm their neighborhood meeting place.
When you register your event, let us know if youíd like us to visit you that night. Our Emergency Management staff and volunteers will do our best to get to as many block parties as we can!
Check out the Seattle Police Departmentís official Night Out 2012 website for downloadable invitations, FAQs, details on how to register, 2012 logo and more: http://www.seattle.gov/police/nightout/default.htm
Local Preparedness Events:
