Nisqually Earthquake After Action Report. Some of these documents are large. For those on a broadband connection downloads should not

Seattle Disaster Readiness and Response Plan (pdf 28 MB)
This plan sets forth the framework for emergency response for the City of Seattle. It also includes sections on specialized areas like
public warning and continuity of goverment
All Hazards Mitigation Plan (pdf 9 MB)
Mitigation is an action taken before a disaster to reduce or eliminate risk to life and property. On a personal level, mitigation
is wearing a seatbelt. On a city-wide basis it is actions like retrofitting bridges to better withstand earthquakes. This plan is
the city's first comprehensive effort to describe mitigation efforts across city departments.
Seattle Hazard Identification and Vulnerability Analysis (SHIVA) (pdf 20 MB)
Lays out the major hazards Seattle faces. Rich in maps. It includes a important chapter that examines the traits of Seattle that
influence our vulnerability to hazards in general. Shorter summaries are available at our hazards section.
That section includes some emerging hazards, like pandemic flu that are not included in the SHIVA

After action reports are great learning tools. They capture lessons learned from real events or large scale exercises. They provide
feedback on what happens when our plans, training and organization meet reality.
