Seattle Preschool Program
On November 4, 2014, Seattle voters approved Proposition 1B (Ordinance 124509), which will fund the four-year demonstration phase of the Seattle Preschool Program, and build toward serving 2,000 children in 100 classrooms by 2018.
The Seattle Preschool Program is currently in the implementation planning phase. More information on each of these milestones can be found on the Implementation page.
Implementation Plan: The Seattle Preschool Program Implementation Plan has been submited to the City Council and is pending council approval in order to begin program operations. Read the proposed implementation plan here.
Community Meetings: A series of 6 community meetings were held during November and December 2014, which were an opportunity for community members and key stakeholders to learn more about the various elements of a quality preschool experience, while also sharing their perspective about how each element should be implemented and supported. Presentations and notes from each of the meetings can be found on the Events page.
Online Survey: We want to hear from you! Those who were unable to attend the community meetings are invited to participate in an online survey, which is an opportunity to continue the conversation as well as gather more input and recommendations. We are looking for feedback on each of the six topics covered at the community meetings. The links are below and on our Documents page. All surveys are available for public comment until January 15, 2015.
