Our Best Advisory Council

The Office of the Mayor convened the OBAC to advise the Mayor regarding expanding opportunities for Seattle's young Black men and boys by providing best practice recommendations designed to disrupt structural barriers to opportunity and promote asset-based solutions through Our Best.

The OBAC is committed to identifying community-based solutions, researching national best practices and elevating local practice-based evidence regarding Black male achievement. The OBAC is further committed to the development of community-led recommendations for the Mayor and City leadership that are culturally responsive, asset-based and sustained to ensure that young Black men and boys are integrated -with great intention-in the City's effort to build a more fair and inclusive Seattle and Puget Sound region.

Members represent philanthropic, nonprofit, academic, private, public, faith-based and civic sectors and reflect the diversity of the African diaspora endemic to Seattle. The OBAC consists of nearly 50 leaders of African ancestry with various Co-chair and subcommittee responsibilities.
