Early Childhood Health Services
The City of Seattle's Child Care Health Program:
- Improves the ability of child care providers to deliver high-quality services
- Provides a safe, secure environment for children and youth
- Improves the health status of children and youth
The City contracts with Public Health - Seattle & King County to provide the following services to agencies serving more than 3,500 children through the Child Care Assistance Program, ECEAP, Step Ahead, school-based after-school programs and Parks and Recreation after-school sites.
These services include:
- Consultation on health and safety issues
- Program assessments and monitoring for compliance and quality of care as it relates to physical, mental, emotional and nutritional health components of the early childhood education and child care programs
- On-site visits, observations, and review of program policies and procedures
- Staff training
- Child psychologist to provide expertise and support for child behavior issues
- Nutritionists and health educators
- Additional resources and referrals
