Film + Music

Seattle benefits greatly from our vibrant and diverse film and music industries, from their economic and cultural contributions to their promotional value for branding our city. We are committed to maintaining Seattle's reputation as a diverse, interesting, and creative center.

Seattle's Film + Music Office works to maintain the city's reputation as a professional and welcoming location in which to film and produce music. Our beautiful scenery and talented labor pool has long been a draw for producers of independent films, major studio features, and television programs. The office also helps promote and develop Seattle's popular commercial music and related industries.

In 2003, two economic impact studies commissioned by OED revealed that the Seattle music industry contributes $650 million from its core industries to the local economy and provides nearly 8,700 jobs. The city's film industry generated $207 million to the local economy and created 2,260 direct film industry jobs.
