2013 Program Results Summary
Shelter assistance included mortgage or rental assistance to prevent loss of shelter or eviction. In a city that pays employees a good living wage, it is sometimes difficult to imagine the number of employees facing loss of shelter and homelessness due to emergency situations.
Medical costs covered by EASE in 2013 included emergency transport and medical costs not covered by insurance.
Food assistance requests continued to be an area of need throughout 2013. Several employees found themselves in emergency situations where they could not afford to feed their families.
Living Expense assistance in 2013 included heating oil costs. Even after obtaining a part time holiday job, a City of Seattle employee couldn’t pay to heat her home following a series of medical and dental bills that were not fully covered by insurance.
2013 Revenue: $36,056
2013 Expenses: $33,309
