As of Tuesday, July 3, 2007, the elevators in the Seattle Municipal Tower will not allow customers to access the 20th floor until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The elevators will be directly aligned with the business hours of the Applicant Services Center (ASC), which opens at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Likewise, the elevators will stop traveling to the 20th floor when the ASC closes at 5:30 p.m.
The elevators will continue their current schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, allowing customers to access the 20th floor between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Please note that customers are not allowed to sign in for assistance after 4:30 p.m. on the 20th floor. The sign in cut-off time may be moved ahead without notice, depending on customer volumes.
Why the Change?
In late 2006, the hours for DPD’s Public Resource Center (PRC), also on the 20th floor, were aligned with the ASC’s business hours. Previously, customers were allowed to access the 20th floor when the PRC opened at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. DPD has maintained an open-lobby policy in the last few months, and allowed those arriving early to sign up before the ASC opened. For security and staff-training reasons, the open-lobby policy is being discontinued.
