DPD is accepting applications through May 25, 2007, for six Construction Codes Advisory Board (CCAB) positions.
The following four positions have terms that run through June 2009:
- one residential developer
- one electrical engineer
- one mechanical engineer
- one person from the general public
Two additional positions are available with terms running through June 2010:
- one apartment owner
- one person from the general public
DPD relies heavily on the advice of professionals and citizens in developing workable construction codes. CCAB is a 13-member voluntary board, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. CCAB advises DPD on proposed code amendments and on Director’s Rules related to Seattle’s technical codes (Building, Residential, Energy and Mechanical codes) by providing input based on the members’ professional experience and point of view. CCAB also hears applicant appeals of department decisions and provides the code official with advisory opinions.
CCAB meetings are held on an as-needed basis on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, noon-2 p.m., and regular attendance is important for continuity and decision-making quorums. Seattle-based applicants are encouraged to apply; residency is preferred though only required for the general public positions. The applicants need not have their professional office within the city limits but must do a significant portion of their business within the city.
