Residential Buildings

Includes single-family, duplex, and townhouse, plus 1, 2, or 3-story multifamily buildings.

You must submit the duct leakage and heating sizing forms, plus the Total UA Alternative form if you are using that path. The Insulation Certificate must be posted in the completed building.

Commercial Buildings

Includes multifamily buildings that are 4 stories and taller, plus all non-residential buildings.

  • Building Envelope Forms
    If you are using the Component Performance option in C402.1.3, you must submit the ENV-UA and ENV-SHGC forms. Otherwise, you do not have to submit these forms, but we highly recommend that you review them.

  • Building Envelope Forms (one spreadsheet with five different forms)
    You do not have to submit any of these forms, but we highly recommend that you review them.
    • ENV-SUM (Envelope Summary) - broad overview of building envelope information needed on drawings
    • ENV-UA (Envelope UxA Calcs) - for Target UA compliance (code section 1330)
    • ENV-SHGC (Envelope SHGCxA Calcs) - for Target SHGC compliance
    • ENV-VT (Envelope VTxA Calcs) - for Target VT compliance (not applicable to multi-family residential)
    • ENV-CHK (Building Permit Plans Checklist)
  • Mechanical Forms (one spreadsheet with six different forms)
    You do not have to submit any of these forms, but we highly recommend that you review them.
    • MECH-SUM1 (Mechanical Summary)- broad overview of basic information required on plans.
    • MECH-SUM2 (Mechanical Summary Form) - an alternate version of MECH-SUM1
    • MECH-COMP (Complex Mechanical Systems Checklist) - detailed list of information required on plans
    • MECH-ECO (Economizer Checklist) - list of economizer requirements
    • MECH-MOT (Electric Motors) - broad overview of electric motor information required on plans
    • MECH-CHK (Mechanical Permit Plans Checklist) - detailed list of information required on plans
  • Lighting Forms (One spreadsheet with 5 different forms)

    • ENV-PRJ (Summary Form) - includes the headings to complete other forms
    • LTG-INT (Interior Lighting Summary Form) - required for all building permit applications (Allowed Wattage portion only) and for all electrical permit applications with interior lighting (all portions, Allowed and Proposed)
    • LTG-EXT (Exterior Lighting Summary Form) - required for all building permit applications (Allowed Wattage portion only) and for all electrical permit applications with exterior lighting (all portions, Allowed and Proposed)
    • LTG-LPA (Lighting Power Allowance Adjustments Form) - provides a form for ceiling height adjustments
    • LTG-CHK (Lighting Permit Plans Checklist) - detailed list of what information needs to be on the plans. Where plans are not required, these items must be done for electrical inspector review in the field
