Our Public Resource Center (PRC) provides one location to access publications, information on permits under review, and historical records. You can also apply for the approvals listed below at the PRC without an appointment, or through the DPD Project Portal.

We accept corrected land use paper plans and platting actions for recording, and issue land use permits.

We have free wireless internet for access to our materials and services, including permit tracking. You can also access that information from one of our self-serve computers.

Location & Hours

The PRC is located on the 20th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 5th Ave., in downtown Seattle.

Hours

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Microfilm, Permit & Property Records

Many documents are available in our online permit and property records, including:

  • Soils (geotechnical) reports
  • Permits issued since October 2003
  • Inspection results and special inspection results for construction-related permits dating back to 2007
  • Approved land use plans dating back to May 2007
  • Plans submitted with Land Use Applications dating back to January 2011
  • Other documents submitted with land use applications dating back to January 2012
  • Application materials submitted as part of the DPD Electronic Plan Review process, such as site plans and forms
  • Building plans dating back to April 2007
(available only by using computers in the PRC)

Plans are available online approximately 2 weeks after the permit is issued; the permit itself is usually available within 1 week after we issue it.

Documents from the 1890s to the present are also available in our onsite Microfilm Library. In addition to the documents listed above, you can access plans for construction, electrical, mechanical, and land use permits. For single-family residences, plans are only available for permits issued after 1974.

We do not research properties or permits for our customers at the microfilm library.
