Site Development
Overview

If you are applying for a construction (building) permit or planning for future construction (land use permit) that involves ground disturbance or tree or vegetation removal, advance inspection of your site by DPD's Site Development Team may be required.

You must work with the Site Development Team if your project requires any of the following:

  • Pre-Application Site Visit (PASV) - required for most projects that involve ground disturbance
  • Environmentally Critical Area (ECA) review
  • Temporary Erosion and Sedimentation Control (TESC)
  • Grading and drainage review
  • Temporary shoring and excavation
  • Side Sewer permitting

The Site Development Team is also responsible for the following site inspections:

  • First ground disturbance site inspection
  • Pre-Construction meeting
  • Side Sewer inspection
  • Special inspection
  • Final inspection

About the Site Development Team
DPD's Site Development Team consists of over 20 staff members who review and inspect site development applications for construction projects located in the city of Seattle. Experts in the group include drainage reviewers, geotechnical engineers, site development engineers, environmental specialists and site development inspectors.

This team evaluates construction projects for compliance with the Seattle Building Code, the Side Sewer Code, the Environmentally Critical Areas (ECA) Ordinance and the Stormwater, Grading and Drainage Control Code. The team assists both land use and code enforcement staff with site issues, and provides site review for short plats, Master Use Permits, complaints and violations.
