Open House: Urban Form Alternatives
February 12, 2008 Held at the South Lake Union Armory. The Department of Planning and Development and the South Lake Union Friends and Neighbors Community Council held a public workshop to review and comment on the results of a recent design charrette conducted as part of the South Lake Union Urban Form Study currently underway.
At the charrette, several scenarios for future development of the South Lake Union neighborhood were produced and will be used to inform consideration of future height and density changes in the South Lake Union Neighborhood. The open house was an opportunity to view the charrette results, offer comments, and learn how these alternative scenarios will be used in the Urban Form Study. Kick-Off Meeting
January 9, 2008. Held at the South Lake Union Armory. The South Lake Union Community Council (SLUFAN) and the City of Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD) to kick off the South Lake Union Urban Form Study. This winter, SLUFAN will develop recommendations for changes to height and density regulations that will help shape the character of South Lake Union for the next 20-30 years. PUBLIC HEARING
Industrial Commercial Zone Height Increase
On December 10, the City Council's Urban Development and Planning Committee held a public hearing on proposed land use code amendments to the South Lake Union Industrial Commercial Zone. For more information, download the public hearing notice, proposed legislation and the Director's Rule.
NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN UPDATE
As with all adopted neighborhood plans, final decisions about the neighborhood plan will be made by the City Council. The DPD is managing the plan update and will be working closely with other City departments that can have an effect on the neighborhood’s future. DPD is meeting frequently with community groups, including SLUFAN and the Cascade Neighborhood Council to talk about issues related to the plan's update. DPD is also hosting public meetings to elicit broader public input and to shape the recommendations of the plan.

Held at South Lake Union Armory, Naval Reserve Building at Lake Union Park, 860 Terry Ave N. 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. This celebration of the completion of the South Lake Union neighborhood plan displayed the exciting new projects in South Lake Union, including parks, arts, housing and public safety. April 4, 2006. Held at Seattle Unity Church’s Fellowship Hall, 200 8th Avenue N, 6-8:30 PM (see www.seattleunity.org/map for a map). DPD and SLUFAN hosted a community workshop to discuss key issues in the neighborhood plan update.
