Over the years, the community and the City have worked together in Northgate on a number of planning efforts. The City has taken the recommendations of these previous plans and used them to draft an “Urban Design Framework” for the area between Meridian Ave N and Roosevelt Ave N and roughly from North 107th to 115th streets.
The proposed Framework, if adopted by the City would show developers how new projects need to incorporate pedestrian improvements and open space; how projects should meet the edges of the new Northgate Urban Center Park; how new buildings should improve public space; set maximum building heights and similar issues. The Urban Design Framework is being created with the help of a professional urban design team, Northgate community members, Design Review Board members, and others.
