May Meetings
The second of three community wide meetings was held in the Othello neighborhood on Saturday May 9. The May community Town Hall meetings were opportunities to further discuss important destinations in the neighborhood, patterns of movement within and through the neighborhood to important destinations and how neighbors use their neighborhood now and how they anticipate using their neighborhood in the future. From this inventory of designations and discussion of use, town hall attendees discussed how current and future buildings in the neighborhood could best support desired patterns of movement and use. Working with neighborhood maps and building blocks of various sizes and height to represent buildings, town hall participants were able to physically explore potential futures of their neighborhood and to discuss the merits of and concerns about those options.
Notes from the Town Hall working groups are posted below. Please note the notes were typed up directly from the flip chart notes taken at the meeting. Some groups spent more time discussing while others spent more time moving the blocks around the map.
The following presentations were made by a design and sustainability professional in advance of the group discussion:
Achieving Successful Town Centers
At the May meeting the Othello Neighborhood Association (ONA) asked for additional opportunity for community comment. For notes from the July 28 meeting of ONA, click here.
