Northeast Board Members

Ivana Begley
Position: Community Representative

 Ivana-Begley

Ivana is a registered landscape architect at Murase Associates where she has worked on a wide range of design projects. Currently she is working with the Friends of Jimi Hendrix Park and the Northwest African American Museum to redevelop this space in Seattle’s Central District. She served as project manager and landscape architect for the modernization of the Nathan Hale High School campus, worked with NBBJ on the site development of Alley 24 in South Lake Union, and was part of the team that coordinated the design and streetscape improvements for 36 blocks within the downtown core of Oklahoma City. Although Ivana describes herself as someone who has walked, biked and run all over Seattle, her deepest passion is for the Roosevelt Neighborhood where she has resided the past dozen years.

Salone Habibuddin
Position: Development Representative

Salone Habibuddin 2010 Design Review Board
 
Salone is an architect and construction manager with 18 years of experience. She has worked on multi-family housing projects covering both low-income and market rate, senior housing and hotels. The first 10 years of her career were spent working for architecture firms in Seattle and the latter 8 have been spent as a construction manager for a South-Seattle based developer managing the design and construction of large multi-family projects. She has also been involved for several years within the architecture community, nurturing young intern architects and teaching prep courses for licensing, offered by the AIA. Born and raised in India, she moved to Seattle as an undergraduate at the University of Washington 22 years ago and has lived here since. She is a registered architect, with a BA in architecture and Master of Science in Construction Management from the University of Washington.

Joe Hurley
Position: Design Professional Representative
Term: Second
Term expires: April 4, 2014

Joseph Hurley Design Review BoardJoe is owner and principal of his own design firm, Joseph Hurley Architects. Previously, he worked as a project architect for James Cutler Architects, Johnston Architects, and Driscoll Architects, including serving as the lead designer for Fremont Lofts, a project the city has identified as a great example of design. He is very familiar with the design review program, attending meetings as a member of the public, or as an applicant giving presentations. He is a member of three community groups in Wallingford: the Quality of Life Board, the Land-Use Board, and Friends of Wallingford Playfield. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and a bachelors degree from Georgetown University.

Christina Pizana
Position: Local Residential Representative
Term: Second

A graduate of California Polytechnic State University in architecture, she has provided design oversight and management to a wide variety of projects in Washington, Nevada, Utah and California. Christina has worked for several Seattle firms, including Harbor Consulting Engineers and Weatherholt and Associates since 1999 when she moved to Seattle. Previously she practiced in Las Vegas, NV and Fresno, CA where she was involved in a number of public, community and commercial projects. A pivotal influence on her residential design sensibility came from early work under Arthur Dyson in California. She volunteers as a peer counselor through the Re-evaluation Counseling Community and United to End Racism, primarily focusing on oppression work and community building. She also teaches nutrition for Solid Ground and is a founding board member of the local chapter of the National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA NW). She frequently volunteers with the Fremont Arts Council and Seattle Tilth. She lives in the Greenlake/Roosevelt neighborhood. 

Martine Zettle
Position: Local Business Representative
Term: Second

Before joining Touchstone Corporation as a construction manager, Martine worked at Turner Construction Co. for ten years as a senior project manager, superintendent and lead purchasing agent. Her most visible project to date has been 2200 Westlake (Whole Foods, Pan Pacific Hotel). A graduate of the University of Washington with degrees in both Construction Management and Architecture, she sits on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Architecture Foundation and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and NAIOP. She lives in Wallingford.

Design Guidelines

Thirty design review guidelines for multifamily and commercial buildings--along with neighborhood-specific supplements--form the backbone of the City's Design Review Program in Seattle's neighborhoods. Separate guidelines govern downtown development.

In early 2012, DPD will be updating the design guidelines for multifamily and commercial development.
