Design Commission's Influence
The Seattle Design Commission reviews Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) to insure that the City's design consultants provide:

  • design excellence for the City's projects
  • good value for the City's money

The Design Commission is most effective when it reviews projects early in the design process -- in concept or schematic design -- when it can offer ideas and advice on the project's overall direction.

Since its inception in 1968, the Design Commission has reviewed 3,850 projects. Below are a few projects that exhibit the Design Commission's influence:
