The 2005-06 University of Washington Luce Waterfront Team researched and analyzed a suite of the most promising ecological enhancement features the Seattle Seawall Replacement Project could offer within the site constraints. This project was a partnership with the City of Seattle Waterfront Ecology Team's (WET) work on ecological considerations for the Seattle Central Waterfront Concept Plan, extending from Pier 46 to Pier 70.
The report covers broad issues related to ecological redevelopment of urban sites and specific actions for the Seattle Central Waterfront. Urban waterfront redevelopment provides an opportunity to initiate a process of ecological function improvement of marine edge habitats and public awareness for sustainable management of coastal environments and resources.
