DPD's Side Sewer Program
DPD's Registered Side Sewer Contractors Program (RSSC)

In order to perform work in a public place to construct or repair side sewers, the following is required:

Pursuant to SMC 21.16.055, side sewer construction or repair in a public place must be performed by a registered side sewer contractor with an issued permit per SMC 21.16.080.

Direct onsite supervision shall be provided of all work to be performed in a public place by or on behalf of the registered side sewer contractor. The onsite supervision must be by a person:

  1. Who has successfully completed the examination provided for in SMC 21.16.060A2, and
  2. Who is listed on the roster required by SMC 21.16.068 as the registered side sewer contractor or as a current employee of the registered side sewer contractor

Exam Information
 

  • To register to take the exam, call 206-684-8860 or email DPD_RSSC_SideSewer@seattle.gov
  • The exam is given once a month (every 3rd Wednesday) at 1:30 pm in the Seattle Municipal Tower (700 5th Avenue)
  • The cost of the exam is $100.00
  • The test consists of forty-five multiple choice questions. A passing score is 80 percent

A hard copy of the materials may be obtained on the 22nd Floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower for a cost of $17.00.

Registering your company as an RSSC:

Once an individual from your company has passed the exam, your company is required to register with the City of Seattle (SMC 21.16.060). The following forms must be completed and submitted to DPD’s 22nd floor staff either in person or by mailing them to the attention of the 22nd floor staff/RSSC Program at 700 5th Ave, P.O. Box 34019, Seattle, WA  98124-4019.
