Effective Feb. 28, 2005, permit fees for drainage and side sewer work increased to make inspection fees commensurate with current DPD hourly rates. These fees were increased both to adjust for inflation and to fully cover costs. This change affects permit applications for a side sewer or service drain connection, repair, alteration or addition. Fee Materials
- Side Sewer Fee Ordinance - Ch. 21.24 of Seattle Municipal Code. (NOTE: This link takes you to City Clerk's website)
- List of fees by category - excerpted from Side Sewer Fee Ordinance (#121666)
- Director’s Rule 9-2005, “Side Sewer Fee Schedule,” clarifies the intent of the ordinance and provides examples of the new fees. One important provision of DR 9-2005 is its clarification that repair and incidental fees are not cumulative when service drain and sanitary repairs are combined on the same permit. Only the higher of the two fees is assessed, which in this case would be the drainage repair fee. Also, pumps and capping incidental to repairs do not incur additional fees.
Payment
DPD collects side sewer permit fees, and applicants will be able to pay by cash, check, credit card, or through an Advance Deposit Account (ADA) arranged with DPD staff. The ADA will provide an opportunity not previously available to regular contractors. Once established, the account will allow sewer contractor agents to pull a permit and draw the fees directly from the account.
