The Northwest Energy Star Homes program aims to enhance the energy efficiency of new homes using proven technologies and construction techniques. It is “third party” verified, meaning that independent parties ensure the performance of the home.

Northwest Energy Star Homes focuses on energy efficiency and health, a narrower focus than more general green building programs. However, it pairs nicely with programs such as Built Green—in fact, Built Green requires Energy Star Homes certification or equivalent for homes certifying at the 4- and 5-star level of its program.
