- Public Technology, Inc.’s Urban Consortium: This national nonprofit, with the mission of furthering the use of technology for cities and counties, conducts research on pressing urban problems. Visit the site for information on Sustainability, Carbon Emissions and Transportation.
- LEAP Local Government Energy Assurance Planning.
- South Lake Union Sustainable Resource Guide: This 185 page document, prepared by Seattle's Mithun Architects, examines the potential for sustainable redevelopment of Seattle's South Lake Union area. Note: this is a large PDF document, and may take some time to load.
- Sustainable Seattle: A citizens’ group with the mission of creating a more sustainable society in the Puget Sound.
- B-Sustainable Learn about relationships and trends in our region for 20 sustainability goals in 4 environments – Natural, Built, Social and Personal.
- Smart Communities Network: Examples of sustainable communities, technical and financial resources for sustainable development, and model codes and ordinances.
Sustainable Design & Construction
- American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment: Promotes sustainability by dispersing knowledge on green building design and organizes a yearly "Top Ten Green Projects" design competition. Seattle's active chapter organizes the annual "What Makes it GREEN?" project exhibit.
- Architectural Record's "Green Architect": Monthly architectural periodical features a sustainable building section on its website.
- BetterBricks.com: Dedicated to improving the work environment and conserving resources at the same time, this Web site and advisor service highlights real-life examples of businesses and organizations that have lighting, thermal comfort, and air quality.
- Built Green: Residential green building rating system, developed by the Master Builder's Association of King and Snohomish Counties in Washington State encourages health and environmental protection in single and multifamily new construction, remodels, and community developments.
- Development Center for Appropriate Technology: A nonprofit that provides strategic support for shifting to sustainable building practices.
- Global Green USA: U.S. affiliate of Green Cross International, fostering a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future

- International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Northwest Chapter
- LEED Green Building Rating System: Voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings
- National Association of Homebuilders Research Center Green Building Program
- Northwest Ecobuilding Guild: This Pacific Northwest nonprofit association of architects, contractors, homeownwers, students, and others interested in green building offers a range of activities through local chapters and a searchable database of members.
