DPD's Noise Abatement Program
Overview
The purpose of the city of Seattle Noise Ordinance is to minimize exposure of citizens to excessive noise by requiring all citizens to meet the Exterior Sound Level Limits for all outdoor noise generating equipment and work activity. The Noise Ordinance was developed to control the level of noise in a manner which promotes commerce, rest and relaxation, and the use, value, and enjoyment of property and the environment.
DPD Enforces Seattle Noise Ordinance
The Noise Abatement Program enforces Seattle Noise Ordinance. Commercial projects are screened during plan or permit review for potential permanent mechanical and recurrent noise issues associated with facility use and maintenance. Mitigation measures for major noise generators are required for such projects.
