Seattle Energy Code
Energy-Related Director's Rules (DRs)

*** Work is underway on updating the Director's Rules.  DR 11-2011 has been published (see below), so Chapter 16 took effect on 14 July 2011.   Updated Director's Rules will be posted as they become available. ***

The Seattle Department of Planning and Development publishes Director's Rules to clarify the application of the Code. For energy-related DRs, the application and a summary are provided below. The DRs are listed in numerical order.

DR 11-2011 - Alternate Means of Compliance to Energy Code Requirements for On-Site Renewable Energy Systems
- Application: Chapter 16 of the 2009 Seattle Energy Code. 
- Summary: Provides alternate means of compliance with Section 1631. (Note that DR 11-2011 took effect on 14 July 2011. Consequently, all building permit applications submitted on 14 July 2011 or later must comply with Chapter 16 of the 2009 Seattle Energy Code.)
