Seattle Climate Action NowSeattle is taking action to prevent one of the biggest threats to the future of our city and the planet - global warming. Through Seattle Climate Action Now, we are committed to leading by example and helping everyone in the city take steps today to reduce climate-changing pollution in their homes, at work and on the road. Conservation

  • Reducing computer waste: reduce, reuse and recycle
Computers and electronics produce tons of waste, some of it very toxic. Surplus computers and monitors can be recycled or refurbished and provided to a family or service organization in need of technology.

  • Reduce your driving and save yourself some time: Use Seattle Wi-Fi and public computers
You can help lower your carbon footprint by using a site with wi-fi instead of driving back home or to the office. The City of Seattle offers free wi-fi in four downtown parks, City Hall and the University and Columbia City business districts. In addition, the libraries and Seattle Center Centerhouse provide wi-fi. Over half of the users surveyed in our pilot project saved driving by using wi-fi, according to our Seattle Wi-Fi pilot project evaluation. See more at www.seattle.gov/wifi.

If you don't have a computer or wi-fi device, the City offers use of computers at our Neighborhood Service Centers, libraries and many community centers and through partnerships with non-profit agencies. See our list of regional community technology sites at www.seattle.gov/tech/techmap/.
