Emergency Checklist for Building Managers and Engineers Now Available

October 17, 2001

In response to the Nisqually earthquake, DCLU has published an Emergency Checklist brochure intended to help building managers and engineers gauge how prepared they are for an earthquake, fire, or other emergency. It is designed to be posted in a conspicuous place for use during an emergency.

This brochure highlights key equipment, services, and room/building conditions that need to be checked first, a fill-in-the blank list of key people/agencies to call first, and actions to take after urgency passes. While not meant be a complete list of all possibilities, this brochure will remind engineers and managers of things that should be considered well before they are actually needed.

The Emergency Checklist brochure is being distributed via DCLU publication outlets, key building management contacts, and through DCLU inspectors as they visit buildings around Seattle.
