Fee Changes Affect Land Use, Site Review, and Electrical, Beginning August 26

August 27, 2001

On August 26, 2001 amendments to DCLU's Fee Subtitle took effect. Most of the changes are clarifications and corrections. There are, however, significant changes to land use fees, which are being increased to correct a continuing revenue shortfall in the land use review program.

DCLU is implementing process changes in the land use program designed to shorten the review time for simple applications and to improve screening. The hourly rate for land use review is increased, as are the minimum fees for Master Use Permits. Fees for most miscellaneous land use reviews, such as short subdivisions, establishing use for the record, and interpretations, are also increased.

Other revisions to the Fee Subtitle more accurately define the activities covered by the site review fee, and provide for collection of site review fees closer to the time the service is provided. The amount of the site review fee is not changed.

The electrical fee table was amended to describe electrical equipment more clearly and in a clearer format. These changes are also not intended to increase the amount of the electrical fee.
