Prior to covering work authorized by a Side Sewer Permit, all work must be inspected and approved by a DPD Site Inspector.
When the work is ready for inspection, the permit holder must request an inspection by notifying DPD. There are two ways to request an inspection:
- Call the 24-hour Automated Inspection Request Line at
(206) 684-8900 - Request an Inspection online
You may go to Permit and Complaint Status and click on the “Inspection Tab” to confirm that you have successfully requested an inspection.
NOTE: The use of cell phones for requesting an inspection is strongly discouraged. Connection problems frequently occur and many calls drop out of our system before the request is completed.
Scheduling Tips
Same-day inspections are typically provided for requests received before 7 a.m. Calls received after 7 a.m. will be scheduled for the following workday.
When requesting an inspection, be sure to leave contact information, including a phone number and contact name. The inspector will call the contact between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., to confirm an inspection time. The contact must be available to meet with the DPD Site Inspector at the scheduled time.
If you feel you successfully requested an inspection and did not receive a call from the inspector by 9 a.m., or wish to cancel a scheduled inspection, contact Customer Support at (206) 684-8860, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Be sure to have the permit number available when calling.
After-Hours Inspections
Inspections are not typically scheduled after business hours or on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. In special circumstances, typically large projects where work must be inspected after hours due to extenuating site constraints or road closures, inspections may be requested with DPD 72 hours in advance. If allowed, inspections will be scheduled based on inspector availability.
