Electrical Code

What Is It?

The purpose of the 2014 Seattle Electrical code is to promote public safety in a practical manner from hazards arising from the use of electricity. Our code does not provide design specifications and is not intended as an installation instruction manual. It applies to all electrical wiring and equipment, including communications systems, installed or used within Seattle. Some ship, railway, communication utility equipment, and electrical utility installations, and some mining equipment are specifically exempted from the code; see section 80.3 for details.
