Court Resource CenterWestern State HospitalThe Program for Forensic Evaluations in Corrections and the Community (PFECC) provides pretrial criminal forensic evaluations to the Court on issues of: Competency to Stand Trial, Mental State at the Time of Offense, and Dangerousness, among others. These evaluations are ordered by the Court at the request of either attorney or the Court itself. They must be completed before the criminal case can proceed to a resolution and disposition of the alleged offender. Timely completion of the reports is crucial to managing court caseloads, jail census, and defendant access to treatment. The availability of PFECC staff on-site will decrease the turnaround time for completion and submission of reports to the Court by at least one day per evaluation. This also means an increase in the number of evaluations that can be completed. The presence of PFECC in the Resource Center will also streamline communication with other Courts, attorneys, and collateral information sources such as mental health agencies. Overall, the centralized location and streamlined communication should contribute to more efficient time frames for disposition of mental health cases. Western State Hospital's Program for Forensic Evaluations in Corrections and the Community is in located in the Resource Center, 2nd Floor of the Seattle Justice Center For questions please call the Court Resource Center at (206) 733-9748. |
