Seattle City Council honors Seattle Symphony's retiring Maestro Schwarz with street naming
Today's resolution will be followed by street name unveiling ceremony on Thursday


Seattle - The Seattle City Council today adopted resolution 31302, giving University Street from Second Avenue to Third Avenue the honorary name "Gerard Schwarz Place."

"On behalf of the City, I want to thank Maestro Schwarz for his 26 years of service as the Seattle Symphony's music director and for his accomplishments in fostering Seattle Symphony's legacy of excellence," said Councilmember Rasmussen. "The Seattle Symphony and Benaroya Hall are integral components of our community. Maestro Schwarz's inspired guidance and talents have enriched the City, subscribers to the Symphony, and inspired students."

Councilmember Tom Rasmussen will be at Benaroya Hall on the outside plaza on Thursday, to unveil the honorary street signs.
