GARFIELD JAZZ ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM AT CITY HALL
Noon-time performance will be followed by joint proclamation
SEATTLE – In honor of their third first-place win in the last seven years at the Essentially Ellington National Jazz Competition, the Seattle City Council will host a noon-time performance by the Garfield Jazz Ensemble in the City Hall lobby next Monday, June 8.
“We are excited that this talented and accomplished group of Seattle Public School high school students will perform at City Hall” said Councilmember Tim Burgess. “Everyone is welcome to come by to celebrate the Ensemble’s success and enjoy superb music!”
Following the performance, at the regularly scheduled 2:00 p.m. full Council meeting, the Council and Mayor will present a joint proclamation to the Garfield Jazz Ensemble encouraging the community to recognize their achievements and commitment to excellence. Roosevelt High School (which came in second at the Essentially Ellington Jazz Competition), and the Eckstein and Washington middle school bands will also be honored for posting impressive wins at last month’s national competition.
