CITY COUNCIL GEARED TO ANNOUNCE ITS 2009 PRIORITIES
Themes will focus on safe communities, fair resource investment, and building a livable city

SEATTLE – The Seattle City Council is poised to announce its 2009 legislative themes and priorities at its 2:00 p.m. Full Council meeting today. The meeting, which will include an opportunity for public comment, will touch on the Council’s prevailing themes of fostering safe, just and healthy communities; investing public resources fairly and effectively; and building a livable city for the future.

Who: All Members of the Seattle City Council

What: Each year, the Council establishes and communicates to the public major themes and priorities to guide its legislative work. Councilmembers will present key areas of focus and major legislative initiatives, with public comment to follow.

When: Monday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m.; public comment will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Where: The Full Council meeting will be held in City Council Chambers at 600 4th Avenue in downtown Seattle.

Why: The Council is announcing its priorities as early as possible to hear from citizens before beginning its legislative work for the year.
