PUBLIC HEARING ON APPOINTMENT OF NEW
SEATTLE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR
SEATTLE—Councilmember Tim Burgess, chair of the City Council’s Public Safety, Human Services, and Education Committee, announced today that the Council is initiating the confirmation process for Alan Painter, Mayor Greg Nickels’ appointee as Director of the City’s Human Services Department (HSD). As part of the process, the Council is accepting public testimony on the appointment.
Painter became Deputy Director of HSD in 2005, and was named Interim Director by Mayor Nickels in April 2008 when the previous director, Patricia McInturff, retired.
The Council’s Public Safety, Human Services, and Education Committee will hold a public hearing on Painter’s confirmation on December 16, 2008 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Public testimony on the appointment will be received at the start of a regularly scheduled Committee meeting. The public can also share opinions with the Council via email at alanpainterconfirmation@seattle.gov.
