Drago Celebrates “Seattle Walks Day” Council Transportation Chair urges Seattleites to participate in events on Saturday, May 10
SEATTLE — Councilmember Jan Drago, chair of the Transportation Committee and co-chair of the Council’s Special Committee on Pedestrian Safety, encourages Seattle residents to participate in “Seattle Walks Day” this coming Saturday, May 10th.
Starting at 10am, hundreds of Seattle residents will walk around their neighborhoods, filling out a survey about the best and worst places for pedestrians to walk. These surveys will be used to help inform the City as it creates the Pedestrian Master Plan, a blueprint to make Seattle the most walkable city in the nation.
“I’m looking forward to gaining insight into how residents feel about their walking environment and what we can do to improve the walkability of our neighborhoods,” said Councilmember Drago. “The neighborhood surveys will help us do that. It’s my goal to get a survey from every Seattle neighborhood!”
Earlier this year, Prevention magazine named Seattle the 5th most-walkable city in the United States. “While we are proud of that achievement, our goal is to be the #1 most-walkable city,” said Councilmember Drago.
