CITY COUNCIL SETS COMMUNITY BUDGET MEETINGS

SeattleThe Seattle City Council will be holding four community budget meetings throughout Seattle during the month of May. These meetings will provide residents the opportunity to hear about current budget challenges and discuss their budget priorities directly with Councilmembers and staff.

As the economic outlook for the City budget becomes increasingly uncertain over the next budget cycle, citizens can discuss how they want to see their city tax dollars spent balancing the Citys need for public safety, parks and human services among other programs provided by taxpayer dollars through the Citys general fund.

Designing a city budget is a mighty undertaking, one that requires a great deal of effort, careful ordering of priorities and considerable input from citizens, said Councilmember and Budget Chair Jean Godden. Passage of a balanced budget is one of the most important things your City Council does each year.
