PRESS CONFERENCE ON STRATEGIC PEDESTRIAN SAFETY INITIATIVE
Councilmembers to announce 2008 Budget Proposal

SEATTLE – Councilmembers will hold a press conference about their proposed Strategic Pedestrian Safety Initiative for the 2008 City Budget at the northeast corner of Delridge Way SW and SW Myrtle Street in Southwest Seattle. The package has been developed as part of the Council’s year-long focus on Pedestrian Safety and combines infrastructure improvements, education, technological innovation, and law enforcement to help make Seattle the most pedestrian friendly city in the country. The location, on the pedestrian route that schoolchildren and parents take to nearby Sanislo School, illustrates the Council’s proposed investments to make arterials, school zones, and stairwells safer for pedestrians.

Who: Members of the Seattle City Council
    What: Press Conference
Where: Corner of Delridge Way SW and SW Myrtle Street (See attached map)
    When: 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 13

Cell phone contact on Tuesday morning: Lisa Herbold, Licata Office, (206) 768-1122

The Council will continue to exercise its budget authority in November by scrutinizing the Mayor’s budget and potentially proposing additional changes. The budget must be adopted no later than December 1. The Council and the Mayor will, as required by state law, adopt a balanced budget.
